At Yama Physical Therapy we guarantee one-on-one treatment, with constant assessment and reassessment—which means faster results and happier patients.
Our facility in Hoffman Estates offers individual physical therapy sessions, specialized group fitness classes for adults and kids, and a Recovery Area with hot and cold therapy.
A Physical Therapist (PT) is regarded as an expert in movement and the musculoskeletal system. A PT can help with post-operative surgeries but is also used as pre-operative care or to help prevent surgery altogether. If you have any aches or pains, a physical therapist can help guide you to a pain-free life. If you have never tried PT before, now is the time to give this noninvasive treatment a try!
Schedule a sessionWe have just added specialized fitness classes for both kids and adults led by licensed physical therapist Tyler Yamauchi. Each level has a list of exercises that must be achieved in order to advance to the next level.
Enroll in a classKids classes range in ages as young as 6 years old to 18. These classes are focused more on physical abilities rather than age. They are meant to create a solid base of movement so that each child will have the strength, mobility and confidence to excel in whatever sport they choose.
The beginner-level class is perfect for any child to start their movement journey and gives guidance on their strengths and weaknesses. Each class has a warm up, skill work, and a strength and conditioning component. The recommended age is 6-10 years of age.
The advanced class is for kids to continue to progress their overall physical prowess and is meant to enhance their abilities at a higher sports level. The recommended age is 11-16 years of age.
These classes are for any adult that is fit enough for exercise and has a desire to increase their strength, flexibility, and longevity in order to live a long and healthy life. As adults, we don’t take the time to take care of ourselves. This class is catered to this population. 1x a week for a month is a great start to invest in your long-term health.
This level is not meant to be intimidating and is a great class for anyone at any level. The class will focus on a full-body workout, while also introducing different themes of skill work each week. All exercises can be modified and it is expected for everyone to be at different levels of their fitness journey.
Each class will include a 15-minute warm up, 30 minutes of skill work, followed by 10 minutes of a conditioning circuit.
Advanced classes will require not only strength and flexibility, but motor control and discipline. You must test out of the beginner level in order to be enrolled in the advanced class.
The Recovery Area is for anyone 18 years of age and older without any cardiovascular or heart conditions. Please consult with your physician first if you have any health concerns prior to scheduling. With the consent and supervision of the parent, a child as young as 13 may use the facility. The Recovery Area consists of a cold tub, hot tub and an infrared sauna. There are different packages as everyone is unique and will use the facility that best suits their goals.
Fire & Ice is a 60-minute class where two people can participate, so grab a friend! In the class, you can choose from the sauna or hot tub as your source of heat. After spending approximately 10-20 minutes in heat each person will dunk into the cold tub for as long as they can tolerate (2-5 minutes).
Studies show that 60 minutes of heat exposure and 10 minutes of cold exposure a week are recommended to reach maximum benefits of the therapies. By participating in the Fire & Ice class, you receive all the heat and cold exposure in one visit.
Book a Fire & Ice sessionIf you don’t have that much time but would like to get the maximum recovery of hot and cold exposure, we also offer hot and cold tub contrast therapy. This only requires 10 minutes of active time in the water.
Book a contrast therapy sessionAt Yama Physical Therapy we use the Plunge, which is a cold tub with a dedicated filtration system, ozone sanitation, and gets as cold as 39 degrees Fahrenheit.
The benefits of cold exposure: increases metabolism (helps lose weight), increases focus/mental acuity, increases dopamine (feeling happier), increases energy, increases mental strength, decreases inflammation (increases recovery).
Book a cold tub sessionAt Yama Physical Therapy we boast a top-of-the-line infrared sauna made by Clearlight Infrared Saunas. This is a “3 person” sauna that can achieve temperatures up to 160+ degrees, which most infrared saunas do not. It also has the lowest EMF ratings out of any sauna, which means it is the safest for the person using it.
Book a sauna sessionA select few times a month, there will be a camp (90 minutes) to help gymnasts understand key principles that will help them to excel in the sport and to reduce risk of injury. Many of my patients require such lessons, and it is my effort to expand this knowledge to everyone. These classes are meant to be small, so space is limited.
Enroll in gymnastics campThis is for groups, four or more, interested in scheduling a custom private session 1x a week for at least one month. In the private group, we will customize exercises to best suit the athletes to increase performance and decrease injury.
